Statement from the Executive Committee of the Lexington Democratic Club Supporting Senator Krueger’s Letter Dated March 5, 2026 Calling on Governor Hochul NOT to Rollback New York’s Climate Law

Adopted April 28, 2026 by the Lexington Democratic Club Executive Committee:

The Lexington Democratic Club Executive Committee strongly supports Senator Krueger’s March 5, 2026 letter opposing Governor Hochul’s efforts to rollback New York’s nation-leading climate law, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).  President Trump and the fossil fuel industry want New Yorkers to believe we must abandon our climate law in order to address energy affordability - but nothing could be further from the truth.  It is obvious the fossil fuel status quo has created the affordability crisis New Yorker’s are suffering from, and it is bold action in accordance with the CLCPA that will save them money.  Governor Hochul has not made the case for altering the CLCPA, and New York should not abandon our commitment to implementing the law.
